The Town Hall Clock and Bell
On Sunday 29th March the clocks go forward one hour, but not for the clock on the Crail Town Hall. All access to the clock was stopped a few days ago for safety reasons, so it may be running an hour behind for an unknown period.
The bell which strikes the hour and sounds the curfew at 10pm is 500 years old this year. Interest in the history of the bell drew attention to the rusting ironwork holding it up. An inspection commissioned by Fife Council found that the timber supporting it had also deteriorated and access has been closed off.
