Priory Singers Open Rehearsal

Priory Singers, the East Neuk’s own chamber choir, are inviting membership applications for the Autumn session, beginning on Monday, 21 September. We are open to applications from experienced choral singers, or from anyone with a more limited musical background looking for an opportunity to develop their musical skills and to join our friendly community enterprise, making lovely music together!

The choir has been giving performances in the East Neuk and St Andrews for more than a quarter of a century, with a varied repertoire ranging from early classical and sacred music to contemporary pieces. Our next concert will take place in St Salvator’s Chapel St Andrews on 9 December, under the baton of our outstanding Musical Director, Fiona Love. Rehearsals take place on Monday evenings in the Coastline Church, Session Street, Pittenweem.

If you think this might be for you, or just want to see what we're about, why not come along to a free come-and-sing/open rehearsal in Crail Church at 9:30am on Saturday 19 September, where you can meet the choir members, find the answers to any questions you may have, and try your hand singing through music for our Christmas concert.

The open rehearsal will be a chance for the choir to workshop new repertoire, and for both choral enthusiasts and potential new members alike to experience some new music too. We'll be working mainly on festive music by several contemporary composers, including Whitacre, Rutter and Mealor. Other repertoire will include some crowd favourites - but you'll have to come along to find out! Bring some water and a pencil - music will be provided. Donations to help cover costs will be welcome but not required.
